Young man and mother awakened by loud vocalizing animal.

Report Details

Occurrence date: December/1990
Location: Bryan County, OK
Nearby/Vicinity: Durant
Time / Conditions: 04:00 — Winter, cold and windy.
# of Witnesses: 1

Witness Account:
I was sleeping and it woke me up! It was Screaming so loud, I thought I was dreaming. I pinched myself, when I realized that this was for real. It took me about 7 minutes before I could move, I was in Shock! It ran around the house 5 times before I could move. That is when I woke my mom up. You could hear it running around the house, it would scream so loud it hurt your ears. I woke my mom up to let her hear this scream and she panicked and knocked all the pictures off the table. We had 2 German Shepherds, one would bite. We looked outside and the 2 dogs were about 25 ft. from the house barking like they were very scared of whatever it was against the side of the house. We called the police and all they did was shine the spotlight on the barns, and then they left. We concluded that they probably had other reports of this and they were like us, did not want to see it.

Hand/foot prints:
No, the ground was frozen. We did look though, or I did.

Sounds:
Un-Godly Screams, so loud, like 10 panthers with a deep scream.

Additional observations:
No smell, too windy, but dogs were terrified.

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Jerry Hestand

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred in Bryan County, Oklahoma, in December of 1990.

The witness saw the special report with Shannon Wolfson on KXII-TV CBS12, Sherman/Denison (TX)/Ardmore/Ada (OK) about the Texas Bigfoot Research Center and the sightings of bigfoot in North Texas and Oklahoma and decided to submit this report.

The witness claimed at the age of seventeen he was visiting at his sister's house near Durant, Oklahoma. He was sleeping with his bed near a window when at around 3 a.m. a loud scream awoke him. He thought he was dreaming until he heard it five more times. It sounded like a large animal on two legs running around the house as the large dogs were chasing it. The witness said it was unmistakably a large animal that was giving off a very loud vocalization. At one point he looked for a gun and found a small revolver, but realized it would be useless against such a large animal. The dogs were observed outside the window under a security light huddled in fear and not wanting to get too close to what they were chasing. Unfortunately the occupants of the house never saw the animal.

There have been several reports to the west of this location. Perhaps the animal in question was curious about this residence for some unknown reason, and found itself surrounded by large, aggressive dogs. This was the only time that the residents have reported any activity like this around their property, so it is assumed that whatever it was did not have any reason to return, and was probably not an animal native to the area.
