# of Witnesses: 1

Witness Account:
The witness was out with a group of people partying around a campfire. He had to relieve himself and left the group. He encountered the creature at a close distance and became very frightened. He ran to his van and left the area without informing anyone of what happened. To this day, most of his friends think he imagined the whole thing.
Between midnight and 2:00 am

Physical evidence:
Large, well over 7 ft. tall with shoulders at least three feet wide. It was definitely furry, if I had to make a guess at the color I would have to say dark brown.

Sounds:
A deep, throaty growl similar to a large cat but with more bass in it.

Additional observations:
The smell made me gag, it was like a cross between rotted carcass and feces and it was overpoweringly strong.

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Scott Kessler

This investigation was conducted as a result of a reported incident that allegedly occurred in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, 15 July 1989.

I talked to the witness on 11 March 2002. His sighting allegedly took place in July of 1989, in Bossier Parish, near Haughton, Louisiana. The time was between midnight and 2:00am. The moon phase was likely half moon. It was a clear night. The location is near the intersection of I-20 and Hwy 80. There is a gravel road that turns into a dirt road. 400 yards down this road is a man made pond. The area had acquired old refrigerators, car tires, and other assorted junk.

The witness was with a group of people who were around the same age as him. He was 18 years old at the time. They had started a fire. Thirty minutes into being there, the witness had to relieve himself. He walked away from the area and out of the range of the campfire. When he stopped to relieve himself, he noticed something nearby was moving. He reported that "twenty feet away a creature walked out in front" of him and away. The witness remembered that the subject then "growled" at him. Out of sheer fright he turned and ran towards and through the campfire. He jumped in his van and immediately left the area. He did not say anything to anybody.

Later the other people present said they also heard the growl. They told him it was a bear or a big cat. Even though black bear do wander in this area of Louisiana, the witness was certain that it was not a bear that he saw.

The witness further emphasized the size of the creature and how frightened he was. The witness stated that "it made my blood run cold." The witness was six feet eight inches in height and weighed 360 lbs at the time of the sighting; he stated that he did not scare easily. He worked as a bouncer at a nightclub and also liked to fight, however, this incident truly scared him.

He described the subject as fully "a foot and half taller" than him and "massive" in chest and shoulder width, as well as "very hairy." The color was a "brown or dark gray." He described its odor as akin to "rotten meat and feces." He did not see the face.

He went back to the area with his brother the next day with a shotgun. They could not find footprints. They did find several trees were pushed over, some broken at the base.

The gravel and dirt roads leading to the pond are now chained off.
