Nearby/Vicinity: Woodville
Time / Conditions: 23:00 — Summer night around 70 degrees, clear.
# of Witnesses: 1

Witness Account:
I was driving down Highway 190 in a semi-truck in Tyler County, Texas. With my brights on I could see something rather large standing near the sign that says Tyler County. As I approached it ran in front of the truck only taking 3 strides to cross the road. It stopped and watched as I passed it, it stood as tall as the windows on my truck.

Additional observations:
No smells nor sounds...I had my windows rolled up with A/C on.

Investigator's Observations

Investigator(s): Mike Mayes

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred 26 August 2008, in Tyler County, Texas.

After an extensive interview with the witness, here is my report:

The witness is a truck driver who was hauling a load from Waco, Texas, to Fort Polk, Louisiana. The witness was eastbound on highway 190. He had just entered Tyler County approaching Woodville, Texas when he saw a large, dark, bipedal figure cross the road.

According to the witness, the subject moved quickly across the highway in only three steps moving left to right (north to south). After crossing the road, the subject stopped and turned to watch the witness drive by. The witness described its size as ?massive,? with an estimated height of eight feet as it stood as high as the windshield of his rig. The witness added that the subject was ?huskily built? and covered with dark shaggy hair. The witness remembered that the subject was dark, but he was unable to tell if it was black or dark brown. He noted red eye shine as his rig approached the subject initially, and again after it crossed the road and turned to watch him drive by. The witness described the effect as similar to the ?red eye? you sometimes get when taking a photo with a flash.

The witness did not stop to investigate further but continued on his way. The witness was sure that what he saw was indeed upright and bipedal; he was certain that it was not a bear or any other known animal. As a truck driver, the witness had seen many animals run across roadways and he had never seen anything like this before. Despite this fact, he realized exactly what he had seen.

The witness was excited and a bit rattled by what he had seen. He pondered on what he had witnessed for a while and then called his wife back in Florida. He described to her what he had seen and asked her to look for some sort of organization online to whom he could report the incident. After doing some searching, she eventually came across the NAWAC website and submitted the report on behalf of her husband.

The witness was very cooperative and amenable but did not have much more to add to the initial report submitted on his behalf by his wife. In my considered opinion, he was straightforward and honest. It is my assessment that the witness believes that he did encounter something meeting the classic description of a bigfoot. He has since explored the NAWAC website and found it interesting, and has taken comfort finding that there have been other reported encounters from this region.

Photos

The view on Highway 190 entering Tyler County from Polk County.
The subject probably would have emerged from these woods, which appear to have been clear-cut at one time.
The subject reportedly crossed over the highway to this side and likely would have continued into these young pines.
