Catalog of Recorded Audio
The North American Wood Ape Conservancy (“NAWAC”) holds that audio evidence regarding the existence of an unidentified primate species in North America is one of the most important and intriguing categories of evidence. We have no affectations regarding its limits; however, we argue that such evidence will become even more significant in a “post-discovery” world in which a previously unknown primate species will be officially recognized within one or more North American ecoregions.
On this page, the NAWAC presents part of its catalog of fascinating sounds and vocalizations recorded over the years in the field by NAWAC teams in southeastern Oklahoma. These teams have been engaged in prolonged observational field studies designed to support, nullify, or give cause to modify the hypothesis that an unknown primate inhabits the rugged and densely forested Ouachita Mountain Ecoregion and perhaps beyond.
No matter what name one ascribes to the putative species, the evidence presented here makes for a persuasive argument that the recordings, taken as a whole, provide sufficient evidence regarding the existence of an undocumented primate, justifying a sober investigation by the scientific community. Please take a few minutes to listen to the sounds on a good system with good speakers. We believe you will find them compelling.
Note: These recordings represent merely the proverbial tip of the iceberg regarding the sounds empirically observed and documented by the NAWAC. There remain countless hours of audio files still to be analyzed. Some of the recordings here have been edited for brevity and file size purposes. In some cases, the time between sounds has been compressed. The files have also been amplified so the listener can hear the events more clearly as they unfold. Some files were subjected to noise reduction.
